Suspended jail for assault on woman

A DAWLISH man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating.

Dean Hunt, 36, of Newlands, was sentenced by magistrates to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months for the offence which happened on July 8 2021.

Hunt also pleaded guilty to another charge of assaulting a woman by beating on December 8 2021 for which he was sentenced to imprisonment for 18 weeks, to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months.

A restraining order was also imposed by the court.

Magistrates ordered Hunt to pay £400 compensation and a victim surcharge of £128.

Hunt also pleaded guilty to unlawfully damaging a front door and lock to the value of £300 belonging to a woman intending it to be destroyed or damaged.

He was further sentenced to four weeks in prison, to run concurrently, suspended for 18 months.

On December 8, Hunt also pleaded guilty to unlawful entry using violence to premises in Albert Street, knowing the occupant was opposed.

For that offence, he was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, to run concurently, suspended for 18 months.

He also admitted breaching bail conditions at Dawlish on February 20, 2022.
